EDGARS CREEK PARKLAND TASKFORCE
During a speech in Parliament on 27 May 2010 Christine Campbell, Member for Pascoe Vale, thanked the members of the Edgars Creek Parkland Taskforce for their work on the report submitted to the Minister for Planning.
The Minister for Planning, Minister Madden, established a taskforce comprising members from his Department of Planning & Community Development, VicRoads (as the land owner), Friends of Edgars Creek, Merri & Edgars Creek Parklands Group, Moreland Council, and Christine Campbell was appointed Chair. The taskforce met for four months and the report was delivered to the Minister in April.
“The aim of the taskforce was to ensure that provision for public open space and pedestrian and bike path facilities was considered in the context of increasing urban development” Ms Campbell said.
“It is fair to say that some members attended the initial meetings with questions in their minds about our ability to come up with a unanimous report”, Ms Campbell said.
“The fact that that was achieved was a tribute to each of the individuals concerned. It was with pride and trust that we presented the minister with our report, and we look forward to his consideration of the matter” Ms Campbell said.
“I have written to local residents advising them that the taskforce has completed its deliberations and that the report has been presented to the Minister” Ms Campbell said.
