HOSKEN RESERVE PAVILION TO BE UPGRADED

Moreland residents will have more opportunities to get physically active thanks to $60,000 in Victorian Government funding to upgrade Hosken Reserve’s pavilion in Merlynston.

Member for Pascoe Vale, Christine Campbell, today announced that Moreland City Council would receive a grant through the Community Facility Funding Program – Minor Facilities Category.

“Victorians love their sport and recreation, especially here in Moreland. This funding will go a long way in helping Pascoe Vale Soccer Club cater for the increasing demand for soccer in the area,” Ms Campbell said.

“We want to make it easier for the community to stay involved in the sport and recreation activities they enjoy, and to lead healthy and active lifestyles. That’s what our ‘Go for your life’ campaign is all about.

“That is why the Victorian Government is taking action to ensure communities have the local infrastructure they need to participate in the sport of their choice.”

The pavilion will be refurbished to better cater for junior participation and have access for all abilities toilet facilities and general AAA compliant renovations throughout the building.

Pascoe Vale Soccer Club President, Lou Tona said, “We are really excited by the prospect of further enhancing the facilities to cater for all. The last round of funding we received achieved some amazing results. Thank you to Moreland City Council, Christine Campbell and Sport and Recreation Victoria for their support.”

Christine Campbell said, “This is a great example of government partnerships and the commitment to grassroots sport by Moreland City Council who are also contributing $60,000 to the project. Congratulations also go to the Tona family who have given decades of outstanding volunteering support to the club.”

“I want all Victorians to experience the benefits of an active lifestyle and to reap the health and community benefits of team sports.”
