GREAT “OUTLOOK” FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS

Christine Campbell, MP, Member for Pascoe Vale, today announced that VicTrack land at the end of Outlook Drive, Glenroy, would remain public open space.

“As a result of the great work of residents, Moreland City Council and my advocacy, VicTrack have decided not to pursue an application to subdivide the land at Outlook Drive, Glenroy”, Ms Campbell said.

“The community’s use of this land as public open space with continue”, Ms Campbell said

“This is great news for local residents who had objected to the land being developed for housing on the grounds that it would result in increased traffic and loss of amenity to their local area”, Ms Campbell said.

“VicTrack have made this decision following feedback from residents and council officers. I commend and thank them for their community spirit”, Ms Campbell said.

“I’d like to thank the residents who brought their concerns to my attention, and for their patience whilst negotiations were progressing between Moreland City Council and VicTrack so that an acceptable solution could be found for all concerned”, Ms Campbell said.

Michael McNabb, a resident opposed to the proposed development of the land said “Residents of Glenroy and Gowanbrae are pleased to hear that VicTrack have withdrawn their application to subdivide land at 1 - 33 Outlook Drive Glenroy”, Mr McNabb said.

“Development of this land would have meant a significant loss of open space for local and surrounding communities, and would seriously impact the Moonee Ponds Creek and its environs”, Mr McNabb said.

Val Ayres, a Glenroy resident who led the opposition to the Glenroy side of the creek, said “Thanks to everyone who supported the campaign to oppose this development. The decision is a great outcome for this and future generations with a Reserve status on the land our only requirement as our guarantee to maintain the open space for all to enjoy”.
