PASCOE VALE NORTH PRIMARY SCHOOL – MOVING IN

Christine Campbell MP, Member for Pascoe Vale, attended a very special school assembly today at Pascoe Vale North Primary School. For the first time, the students will be dismissed from Assembly and march into their brand new classrooms.

The buildings comprise the $3.1 million Stage Two modernisation project which was funded in the 2008 State Budget. The project includes replacement of the old light timber construction buildings with general purpose classrooms, a new library, new art room and refurbished administration and student toilets.

“Starting with the $1.37 million Stage One upgrade in 2006, this essentially completes a rebuild of the 50 year old school”, said Ms Campbell. “The works have transformed Pascoe Vale North Primary School into a modern 21st century educational facility. It will present a safe and modern learning and teaching environment and make it a most attractive option for local parents.”

Ms Campbell said, “I was delighted to hear the comments of the children.”

Maddison Willis of grade 3/4 said, “It's exciting going into our new Art room. We're going to have a lot more space. I'm looking forward to using clay and having it fired in our new kiln.”

Boran Baykan also of grade 3/4 said, “The builders blocked our music room off and we haven't had a music room for months. Finally we're going to move into our new music room and we're going to have lots of space to play our musical instruments and dance.”

School Council President, Sonja Josipovic said, “Pascoe Vale North Primary has come such a long way. The whole school community has been so understanding and patient throughout the building process. Now that Stage 2 is complete we can all move forward and look toward the future with the latest facilities and modern environment for our children. Thank you to everybody involved in this project to make it all possible.”

“I hope that the Principal, Peter Adams can hang up his hard hat soon. Congratulations to Sonja and Peter and all the past and present staff and school council members who have laboured on this project with the Northern Metropolitan Region of the Department of Education, said Ms Campbell, “It’s a great achievement for a great school.”
